On the birth anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Children’s Day is celebrated today on 14th November, not only India, several other countries in the world also observe today as Children’s Day.
India, which celebrates Children’s Day on 14th November to mark the birth anniversary of its first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, is among several countries worldwide that dedicate a day exclusively for kids since Turkey started the practice back in 1920.
President Pratibha Devisingh Patil, Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday offered floral tributes to first Prime Minister of the country at his memorial Shanti Van.
Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition L K Advani and other dignitaries also paid homages to Pandit Nehru on the occasion. An all religion prayer meeting was also held early this morning.
Rich tributes were also paid to Pandit Nehru at the Central hall of Parliament.
On the occasion of the Children’s day President Pratibha Devisingh Patil interected with children at Rashtrapti Bhawan.
To celebrate the spirit of children and their talent and to promote kids’ welfare, the UN General Assembly in 1954 recommended that all countries around the world set aside a day for this purpose on a date they considered appropriate.
The day would be seen as a symbol of worldwide fraternity and understanding.
The drug is sold under the trade name Tamiflu and is taken orally in capsules or a drink. The ministry of health and family welfare issued a notification on Tuesday allowing “restricted sale” of tamiflu (Oselatamivir) the only available drugs that are used for the treatment of Swine Flu.
