Women staged rally against illegal liquor trade in India

About hundreds of women activists of  20 SHG groups and Belarpur Kalyani club  of  Raghudeipur Gram Panchayat under Derabish block on Sunday staged a rally creating awareness among the rural folk , protesting against the police inaction in arresting the liquor traders who were operating illegal liquor business,and demanding to close down all the illegal liquor business in the area despite the fact that they have umpteen times in past knocked the door of the district administration to look into their demands.

women rallyDespite persistent pleas before the district administration and the local police  to close down all the illegal liquor trade  in their locality following gullible people , college students and school going girls have been facing the nuisance of the alcoholic persons as they were creating problem on the locality with an inebriated state and crime graph has been ballooning in the area , but the authority did not act accordingly to their demands .for which they staged a rally protesting the callous attitude of the khaki clad police personnel ,alleged the agitated women of SHG groups.

This is our first protest ,we have taken a vow to close down all the illegal liquor business  from our area .If the district administration would not able to close down the liquor trade operating in the locality illegally then we would make picketing  in front of the liquor traders’ house  by engaging our women activists not to give an opportunity to the locals to purchase liquor from the shop and if circumstances compel us , then we would not hesitate to destroy the liquor trader’s house . If such situation occurs then khaki clad personnel will be responsible for taking law into our hands”, stated women activists of SHG groups.

The rally was started from Nolasahi school and it passed through the Nolasahi, Rajnagar,Raghudeipur,Belarpur , Kansaripatana,Bhujibal, and Derakeshpur villages.


Indian Girl committed suicide in front of her lover’s house

A case has come to the fore here in Patkura police limit on last night where love costs dear for  a 23 years old graduate girl as she committed suicide after she was betrayed by her lover for marriage following the marriage proposal of her lover was settled elsewhere with another girl ,informed Alok Ranjan Roy, . the IIC of Patkura police station ,on Monday.

If sources are to be believed , In a bizarre incident ,a 23 years old girl , S.P.Jayashree , of Talagaon village under Patkura police station , on Sunday night ,committed suicide by hanging herself in a tree situated  in front of  the house of Malaya Swain,30, who is stated to be the lover of the deceased girl , following the youth denied to marry the ill-fated girl  as the marriage  was settled by his family members elsewhere .

According to the IIC of Patkura police station , the deceased was in love with a fellow village youth, Malaya Swain, since last more than 2 years .Both the love couple had earlier decided to tie knot with each other . But on Sunday , the ill –fated girl ,Jayashree, came to know that the family members of her lover has settled the marriage of her lover with a girl . As a result, she came to the house of  her lover and asked her lover to marry her .But the lover of the ill fated girl denied to tie knot with her as he did not want to go against the decision of his family members . Being depressed , the ill fated girl,Jayashree, demanded to marry Malaya but the family members of Malaya denied to accept her as daughter-in-law .But the family members with the help of local ward members managed to send Jayashree to her house .

Later, the ill fated girl ,Jayashree ,disclosed all the matters to her parents and  the family members of Jayashree later  allegedly restricted her to enter into the house and left her to fend for herself in the cruel world. Being losing mental balance  and frustrated over the fact that she is going to lose her lover forever , the girl once again came to her lover’s house and finally asked to marry her when he denied to marry her ,she committed suicide by hanging herself in front of her lover ’s house ,informed Roy ,the IIC.

Later, the deceased ‘s father ,Pitambar Biswal, lodged an FIR in the police station alleging that his daughter was killed by her lover’s family on Monday. Police is conducting inquiry in this matter by registering a case under Section 302 . But no arrest has been made so far , added Roy, the Patkura Police Station IIC.

Indian Villagers staged hunger strike demanding MoU for port

Hundreds of sea side  villagers of Rajnagar block in Kendrapara district sat on hunger strike in front of District collector’s office on Monday demanding before  the state government to initiate steps by signing MoU to build a port at Barunei river mouth.

Addressing the gathering Prafulla Kumar Das. the chairman of the Barunei Development Committee , stated  that several companies like  Arcelor Mittal , the largest steel maker of the world , and Adani group are interested to build a port in the district at Barunei .But it seems the state government is not taking any interest to sign MoU for constructing port at Barunei as  the state government is delaying  to sign MoU with a company  to set up a port at Barunei.

The agitators informed that more than ten thousand acres of government lands are laying unused near Barunei river mouth and the government is not going to face any resistance from the locals as major issue like  displacement is not going to be occur in the area  . Large numbers villagers are supporting the recent move of some of the companies to build a port at Barunei river mouth . The proposed port at Barunei will provide livelihoods to thousands of people and the state government should hand over lands to any company for the construction of the port as soon as possible..

Notably ,in the past , Baunei river mouth was a minor port and the sailors of Orissa used to sail other countries through the port. A delegation team of Barunei Development Committee six months back met the Chief Minister Naveen Patanaik and pressed their demands before the CM  to expedite the government machineries by signing an MoU with   any big company to set up a port at Barunei river mouth, said Bhabani Shankar Nayak the vice-president of Barunei Development Committee.

With the establishment of port ,large numbers of youths of the district would get employment and unemployment problems would be curtailed in some extent from the district if port would set up at Barunei .

Later , the agitators withdrew their hunger strike after the district administration informed the agitators to press their demands before the state government.

USA firm completed Oil pumping from the mangolian sunken ship in India

Bhubanewsar, India: The Fuel Oil stored in  the sunken ship M.V. “BLACK ROSE” ,which was sank off on 9th September near Paradipin Orissa, India  and posing  a serious threat to the environment as well as to the marine species in case of its leakage, was finally pumped out completely from the ship on 15th November, informed Paradip Port Trust (PPT) authority.

sunken shipAccording to official sources, after obtaining the approval of Ministry of Shipping, the PPT selected a firm through a global tender and entrusted the work of retrieval of oil to M/s Resolve Marine Group, Florida, USA. The firm later commenced the oil pumping out work on 23.10.2009 and completed it on 15.11.2009. The entire oil, comprising Furance Oil, Diesel Oil and Lube Oil, has been pumped out from the sunken ship. Now there is no oil, whatsoever, left in the ship, added official sources.

Notably, earlier a hue and cry started in the state much after the ship sank near  following the environmentalists and marine fauna lovers raised their concern about the safety of the aquatic fauna in the Bay of Bengal as several marine fishes reportedly found dying and washing ashore due to the suspected oil slick in the Bay of Bengal near the sunken Mongolian ship “Black Rose” .

Being  panicked about the oncoming possible disaster if the oil spillage occurred from the sunken ship Black Rose ,the fishery department as well as the environmentalists ,state pollution Board  sounded an alarm by urging  the port authority to pump out the 924 metric tonnes of furnace oil  which was stored in the  double bottom tank of the sunken ship in a war footing basis  to provide a congenial environment  for the  marine creatures  .

The oil retrieval work started lately as the port authority   waited for the arrival of the owner of the ship as  it was the duty of the owner of the ship to pump out the oil from the sunken ship.
