As a result Rajak Mian injured critically following the attack of bee and he was rushed to the Cuttack-based SCB medical college and hospital for treatment with the help of villagers .But the ill-fated person succumbed to his injuries on the way to SCB medical college and hospital . (3) Son taking care of the reptile one of whom killed his father It is common that a son generally takes revenge against his father’s killer. Have you ever heard that a son has been taking care of dreaded salt water crocodile ,one of whom killed his father, after the untimely demise of his father ! Sounds strange , Such a case has come to the fore here in Kendrapara district ,where a son has nurturing the killer salt water crocodiles one of whom devoured his father only because there was no option left for the youth to collect bread and butter for his six family members ,including his widow mother Sasmita Behera, after the untimely demises of his father .For which circumstance compelled the youth to nurture the salt water crocodiles at the wages of Rs 103 per day to feed his family members by risking his life. The attacker is a crocodile ,who was held captive in Bhitarkanika Wildlife Sanctuary while victim Madhusudan Behera, a resident of Bankuala under Rajnagar block , was an ad-hoc employee of Bhitarkanika National Park. Manoranjan, the son of the slain employee, is now on Daily Labour (DLR) of the department. Ironically, Manoranjan is shouldering the responsibility of taking care and nurturing the captive crocodiles. With crocodiles straying from their habitats into water bodies in and around the human settlements, tales of such tragic proportion are not far to seek in these parts of the state. According to Manoranjan Behera , his father used to feed the captive crocodiles inside the Crocodile Breeding and Research centre at Dangamala under Bhitarkanika National Park . On 24th April 2000 ,while his father was feeding a crocodile in a pond at Dangamala Crocodile Breeding and Research centre he was attacked by a crocodile resulting the untimely demise of his father . “Later , the forest department had paid a compensation amount of Rs 10,000 for the death of my father and asked me to perform the task which was earlier performed by my father. Since then, I have been taking care of the reptiles ” said Manoranjan. “Fate played a cruel joke with me ,as there was no option left with me ,I had to accept the job offer provided by the state forest department only for the survival of my family members”, added Manoranjan . Though , the task of collecting fish and crab and later feeding the captive reptiles are so risky and even a slight mistake of mine can cost my life dear ,but I have to carry out the task entrusted by the forest department despite all the risks coming on my life .Else how can I collect daily bread and butter to feed my family, stated Manoranjan. “Thanks to the state Forest department for erecting a memorial in remembrance of my deceased father inside the Dangamala Crocodile Breeding centre . With a hope that the state forest department would make my job permanent in the coming years , I have still been laying here despite all the danger coming on my part”, quipped the son of the deceased Madhusudan Behera.
