Getting Justice at Kendrapara town police station has become a far cry for the victims

Rajesh Kumar Behera in Kendrapara, Orissa

If you are in trouble and seek urgent police help, then it is sure that you are going to be deprived to get justice from Kendrapara town police. Here, the victims, who come for getting justice, allegedly forced by the khaki clad personnel to compromise the case with the assailants. If an accused belongs from a political party or a distance relative of the police then the victimized person would forget that he is going to get justice at any cost. As most of the khaki clad police personnel dancing with the tune of political people either suppress the cases by denying the victim to get justice or force the victims to compromise with the assailants by not registering a case .Even ,several times it has been seen that if a victimized person has visited the town police station for justice in order to lodge an FIR , then he was detained with the accused in the police station .The reason behind such act of police is only to take bribe from both the sides by forcing them to compromise the case instead of providing justice to the victim. Though the senior officials were aware about the fact, but they are not taking any step. If a victim person dares to file an FIR at Kendrapara town police station, then he would definitely greet in the police station with the misbehaviour of unscrupulous rowdy police officers .Later, the constables of the said town police station will come and demand money by asking the victim person that their senior officer demand money to register FIR in the police station.Later, the khaki clad personnel allegedly ask to provide money for going to the spot in order to conduct inquiry and to nab the accused. In last four days two innocent persons of Manakarpur were victimized in the hand of a sub Inspector of Kendrapara town police as the said sub Inspector allegedly by supporting the mischief mongers forced to compromise with the mischief mongers . On Tuesday, one Asanti Behera, the widow of Batakrushna Behera, of Manakarpur allegedly lodged an FIR against three fellow villagers at Kendrapara Town police station following they allegedly assaulted her son and forcibly driven her out of the house. Later, the trio villagers allegedly made an attempt to stripped her . As a result, she went to Kendrapara town police station and lodged an FIR against the trio fellow villagers in order to get justice. But ironically, the sub Inspector of Kendrapara town police station, who was in-charge of Kendrapara town police station, allegedly detained her son along with the three accuseds after dancing with the tune of a local politician. The said SI allegedly forced the victim widow’s son to compromise the case with the accuseds by threatening her son to put behind the bar in the counter case which was filed by the accused persons. As a result, the victim’s son was compelled to compromise with the accused persons, stated Asanti Behera, the widow victim. Allegation pouring against the said SI of police that he was allegedly taking bribes from the accused persons and used to force the victim to compromise the case else he threatened to put behind the bars to the innocent victims . Police inaction to nab the accused ones has encouraged the criminals to commit crime and crime graph has increased in recent times. While there was not a single licensed shops of Ganja and opium in the district ,but more than dozen of drug peddlers have been selling the narcotic substances openly in the district under the very nose of the police department . Police are not arresting them as locals alleged that the drug peddlers have been giving monthly bribes to some of the police officials ,who are helping them to sell ganja and opium openly in the township area .The poor people have failed to get justice from the law enforcing machine. It is a tip of an iceberg, there are several instances, where the police have put the innocent persons behind the bar and left the accuseds to roam free in the area by remaining hand in glove with the ruling party leaders , alleged locals.

Three fishermen arrested, trawler seized in Indian National Park

Rajesh Kumar Behera in Kendrapara, India

The Bhitarknaika forest officials on Saturday intercepted a fishing trawler and arrested three fishermen on the alleged charges of illegally catching fish by entering into the prohibited zone of Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary , informed Manas Ranjan parida , the ranger of Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary . Notably, the forest officials of Bhitarkanika National Park authority imposed ban on fishing around 20 km off the shore under Gahirmatha marine sanctuary from 1st November to 31st May to protect the endangered marine turtles, which come en mass for laying eggs at Gahirmatha Marine sanctuary. According to Parida, while the forest officials were patrolling in the sea coast ,they found a fishing trawler was catching fish illegally by entering into the prohibited zone, as a result the forest officials intercepted the boat and allegedly nabbed three fishermen . All the trio arrested fishermen have been identified as Dinabandhu Malik, Rajendra Malik and Bandara Malik. All the trio arresteds belonged to Bhadrak district , added the Ranger of Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary . The arrested fishermen are going to produced before the local court on Monday under wildlife Protection Act ,1972 . (2) Bee attack one died One person died following a swarm of violent honey bee attacked him at the Kolata village end under Tirtol police station while he going to Krishnandapur village in his motorbike on Thursday ,said police sources. . According to sources, one Rajak Mian,a resident of Kolata village under Bishunpur Gram Panchayat of Tirtol block , on Thursday, was going to Krishnanadapur with his motorcycle a swarm of violent honey bee came from a tree ,who were disturbed after some child threw stones at the bee hive , and allegedly attacked the ill fated person . As a result Rajak Mian injured critically following the attack of bee and he was rushed to the Cuttack-based SCB medical college and hospital for treatment with the help of villagers .But the ill-fated person succumbed to his injuries on the way to SCB medical college and hospital . (3) Son taking care of the reptile one of whom killed his father It is common that a son generally takes revenge against his father’s killer. Have you ever heard that a son has been taking care of dreaded salt water crocodile ,one of whom killed his father, after the untimely demise of his father ! Sounds strange , Such a case has come to the fore here in Kendrapara district ,where a son has nurturing the killer salt water crocodiles one of whom devoured his father only because there was no option left for the youth to collect bread and butter for his six family members ,including his widow mother Sasmita Behera, after the untimely demises of his father .For which circumstance compelled the youth to nurture the salt water crocodiles at the wages of Rs 103 per day to feed his family members by risking his life. The attacker is a crocodile ,who was held captive in Bhitarkanika Wildlife Sanctuary while victim Madhusudan Behera, a resident of Bankuala under Rajnagar block , was an ad-hoc employee of Bhitarkanika National Park. Manoranjan, the son of the slain employee, is now on Daily Labour (DLR) of the department. Ironically, Manoranjan is shouldering the responsibility of taking care and nurturing the captive crocodiles. With crocodiles straying from their habitats into water bodies in and around the human settlements, tales of such tragic proportion are not far to seek in these parts of the state. According to Manoranjan Behera , his father used to feed the captive crocodiles inside the Crocodile Breeding and Research centre at Dangamala under Bhitarkanika National Park . On 24th April 2000 ,while his father was feeding a crocodile in a pond at Dangamala Crocodile Breeding and Research centre he was attacked by a crocodile resulting the untimely demise of his father . “Later , the forest department had paid a compensation amount of Rs 10,000 for the death of my father and asked me to perform the task which was earlier performed by my father. Since then, I have been taking care of the reptiles ” said Manoranjan. “Fate played a cruel joke with me ,as there was no option left with me ,I had to accept the job offer provided by the state forest department only for the survival of my family members”, added Manoranjan . Though , the task of collecting fish and crab and later feeding the captive reptiles are so risky and even a slight mistake of mine can cost my life dear ,but I have to carry out the task entrusted by the forest department despite all the risks coming on my life .Else how can I collect daily bread and butter to feed my family, stated Manoranjan. “Thanks to the state Forest department for erecting a memorial in remembrance of my deceased father inside the Dangamala Crocodile Breeding centre . With a hope that the state forest department would make my job permanent in the coming years , I have still been laying here despite all the danger coming on my part”, quipped the son of the deceased Madhusudan Behera.
