Opposing the gangsters entering into their areas costs dear for a youth

Opposing the entry and operating the criminal activities of hard core criminal Sk. Kadir(28) alias Munna, the son of mobster Hyder , along with his associates in the bastis of minorities communities at Aul , costs dear for a youth as he lost his life in the gangsters bullet, it has been revealed by Narasingh Bhola, the SP of Kendrapada on Wednesday in a press meet orgainsed at District police office.

According to SP, after realeasing from jail in 2009 ,Munna tried to form a new gang of his own by leaving behind his father Hyder’s gang. So he recently tried to expand his crime syndicates at Aul area, the house of his second wife Resma Bibi. In order to settle at Aul and to make his gangs strengthen he allegedly add some local youths in his gang .As a result, he most of the times used to visit Aul in last some months and halted nights at his father-in-laws house. While some the village heads of minorities communities basti, including Wasim khan and his brother Wajid khan, started opposing the act of Munna for spreading crime and adding their youths in his newly formed gang . For which three months back , a meeting was organized among the basti heads at Aul . In the meeting ,Shahnawaj Khan , the son of Kasim khan of Aul, opposed the entry and spreading of hardcore criminal Munna’s crime network in the area . As a result, Munna’s uncle –in-law, Soni, and Liasat Khan , one of the associate of Munna, tried to support Munna’s entry and settling down at Aul. For which , an altercation was erupted and Shahnawaj Khan allegedly slapped to Liasat Khan.

In order to teach a lesson to Shahnawaj Khan for slapping the associate of Munna in the meeting , Munna’s uncle-in-law,Soni, pursed Munna to kill the youth . As a result, on 16^th March, 2010 Munna’s associates hurled bombs at the cement shop of Shahnawaj khan . Later, Munna with the help of some of his associates, including Abdul Rafique Khan alias Raja ,of Fakirabad, Sk.Jahid alais Jadu ,of Rasulpur, Khalilur Rehman alias chand of Fakirabad, Imtiyaj Khan of Zobra area in cuttack , hatched plan to kill Shahnawaj Khan.

As a result, on 24^th May, as per the pre-planned Munna with the help of fired bullets to shahanawaj Khan and his uncle Wajid Khan while they were sitting at their cement shops in Aul market and fled from the spot . Later, Shanawaj Khan succumbed to the bullet injuries .Munna ,later,fled to Hyderabad to avoid police arrest, added SP, Bhola.

Acting on the reliable sources, that Munna was taking shelter in rented house at Dullapali in Hyderabad under Cyberabad Commissionrate Police with his second wife ,Resma Bibi, a police team led by DSP ,Narayan Mohanty , went to Hyderabad and nabbed Munna with the aid of Special Operate Team of Andhra Pradesh counterparts. Later, Munna confessed to the crime and informed about his associates to police .

Kendrapada police later conducted raids at different hideouts and nabbed Abdul Rafique alias Raja , Sk. Jahid alias Jadu, Khalilur Rehman alias chand in the murder case of shahnawaj Khan and hurling bombs to the business establishment of shahnawaj Khan .

According to SP, the arrested Munna and Raja were the prime accused in firing bullets to shahnawaj Khan, whereas Jadu was arrested in making conspiracy to kill shahanawaj Khan and Chand was arrested for hurling bombs at the shop of the deceased Shahnawaj.

According to Bhola, the arrested Chand was expert in preparing bombs and hurling bombs .

The gangster Munna was arrested in five cases ,including the murder case of Shanawaj , hurling bombs at Shanawaj Khan’s shop, hurling bombs at Pattmundai a month back, committing dacoity at Chaudakulat and forcibly taking possession to a person’s house at Badajaria. Whereas several cases of extortion,attempting murder, threatening government officials were pending in several police stations in and outside the district.

On the otherhand, the arrested Raja was involved in 3 cases , including murder case of deceased ShahanawajKhan,hurling bombs to the deceased’s shop and hurling bombs at a business establishment at Pattamundai. Similarly, chand was involved in hurling bombs at Aul and Pattamundai Police limit .

Notably, Kendrapqada police earlier arrested Soni, the uncle-in-law of Munna , and Sutka on the charges of instigating Munna andhatching plan to kill Shahnawaj and later helping the gangsters to flee from the spot.

The arrested four persons, including Munna, Raja ,chand and Jadu were booked under 307,302,120(b) of IPC ; 25 and 27 Arms Act:9(B)Indian Explosive Act and they were produced before theSDJM court on Wednesday where their bail petitions were rejected and they were remanded into jail custody.

Meanwhile haunt is on to nab Imtiyaj Khan, the henchman of Munna , Liasat Khan and some other associates of Munna in this murder case, informed Police.

The SP also informed that some women were working for Munna gang .They were engaged by Munna to collect extortion amount from the threatened persons and helping the associates of Munna to flee from the area by arranging railway tickets for them.

Teen stabbed by Naxals looking for his father

He was 15, and he was alone at home when they came looking for his father. The Naxals – there were reportedly 30 of them – tied his wrists together, and then they went at him with a knife. He bled to death, near his house in a small village on the Orissa-Bengal border.

The Naxals reportedly wanted to punish the boy’s father, who they suspect is a police informant.

The Handibhanga village in Orissa’s Mayurbhanj district lies in Naxal heartland. Five days ago, two Naxals were arrested here.

As revenge, the Naxals set the Home Guard’s house on fire. The Home Guard, or Gram Rakshi, is the village policeman who is given a daily allowance. The Naxals believed that he had provided the local police with the information that led to the arrests of their comrades.

Getting Justice at Kendrapara town police station has become a far cry for the victims

If you are in trouble and seek urgent police help, then it is sure that you are going to be deprived to get justice from Kendrapara town police. Here, the victims, who come for getting justice, allegedly forced by the khaki clad personnel to compromise the case with the assailants. If an accused belongs from a political party or a distance relative of the police then the victimized person would forget that he is going to get justice at any cost. As most of the khaki clad police personnel dancing with the tune of political people either suppress the cases by denying the victim to get justice or force the victims to compromise with the assailants by not registering a case .Even ,several times it has been seen that if a victimized person has visited the town police station for justice in order to lodge an FIR , then he was detained with the accused in the police station .The reason behind such act of police is only to take bribe from both the sides by forcing them to compromise the case instead of providing justice to the victim. Though the senior officials were aware about the fact, but they are not taking any step. If a victim person dares to file an FIR at Kendrapara town police station, then he would definitely greet in the police station with the misbehaviour of unscrupulous rowdy police officers .Later, the constables of the said town police station will come and demand money by asking the victim person that their senior officer demand money to register FIR in the police station.Later, the khaki clad personnel allegedly ask to provide money for going to the spot in order to conduct inquiry and to nab the accused. In last four days two innocent persons of Manakarpur were victimized in the hand of a sub Inspector of Kendrapara town police as the said sub Inspector allegedly by supporting the mischief mongers forced to compromise with the mischief mongers . On Tuesday, one Asanti Behera, the widow of Batakrushna Behera, of Manakarpur allegedly lodged an FIR against three fellow villagers at Kendrapara Town police station following they allegedly assaulted her son and forcibly driven her out of the house. Later, the trio villagers allegedly made an attempt to stripped her . As a result, she went to Kendrapara town police station and lodged an FIR against the trio fellow villagers in order to get justice. But ironically, the sub Inspector of Kendrapara town police station, who was in-charge of Kendrapara town police station, allegedly detained her son along with the three accuseds after dancing with the tune of a local politician.The said SI allegedly forced the victim widow’s son to compromise the case with the accuseds by threatening her son to put behind the bar in the counter case which was filed by the accused persons. As a result, the victim’s son was compelled to compromise with the accused persons, stated Asanti Behera, the widow victim. Allegation pouring against the said SI of police that he was allegedly taking bribes from the accused persons and used to force the victim to compromise the case else he threatened to put behind the bars to the innocent victims . Police inaction to nab the accused ones has encouraged the criminals to commit crime and crime graph has increased in recent times. While there was not a single licensed shops of Ganja and opium in the district ,but more than dozen of drug peddlers have been selling the narcotic substances openly in the district under the very nose of the police department . Police are not arresting them as locals alleged that the drug peddlers have been giving monthly bribes to some of the police officials ,who are helping them to sell ganja and opium openly in the township area .The poor people have failed to get justice from the law enforcing machine. It is a tip of an iceberg,there are several instances, where the police have put the innocent persons behind the bar and left the accuseds to roam free in the area by remaining hand in glove with the ruling party leaders , alleged locals.

Bird and deer poaching are going on unabatedly in the Bhitarknaika National Park area

Migratory birds flock to Bhitarakanika National Park every year during the month of September and leave for their permanent homes in the end of March. During this period , it is a boom time for poachers as this time during the year is said to be the time for merry making and picnic time for which the poachers manage to trap and kill the winged guests and sell it slyly in order to earn a fast buck from the tourists. But , ironically the forest officials have failed to curb down the illegal activities in the National park ,alleged locals.

Poachers trap birds by spreading nets on the paddy fields near Bhitarakanika when the birds descend to take ripen paddy on the fields, said official sources.

The National Park has made rare migratory birds go looking for other water sources ,mostly unprotected. As a result, these birds are becoming food for the hunters.

Migratory birds are being trapped both upstream and down stream in the sanctuary areas. According to official sources, the poacher shoot the birds down either in the early morning or at night fall. In order to trap the feathered species, the poachers have also spread bird feed, net, laced with drugs .

Later, they kill the migratory birds and sell it to the hotels and bungalows of nearby districts or to the markets of Mahakalpada, Rajanagar, Rajakanika and other nearby places , informed a bird poacher of Gupti area by not disclosing his name .

Locals stated that each bird from a foreign country fetches between Rs100 to Rs175, whereas a residential bird is sold at the rate of Rs60 to Rs100. Due to poverty the locals killed the birds in order to collect their bread and butters .

According to local bird lovers, poachers have evolved an easy way to catch the birds as they are going to the river inlets, creeks and nullahs of Bhitarkanika in order to catch fish with taking all the equipments with them. They spread fishing nets in the area slyly at night in the sanctuary . which serves the dual purpose of catching both birds and fish As there is no firing , the people don’t come to know about the bird catch.

As the X- mas and New year eve is on the card, the innocent feathered guests are going to be killed mercilessly by the poachers According to a poacher of Talachua , the price of each endangered migratory birds in the black market varies from Rs 250- 400. He added that he captures the birds with nets in the dense forest of Bhitarkanika and sent to the hotels at Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Paradeep and Bhadrak.

Several migratory birds ,who throng into the Bhitarkanika National Park, have fallen prey to poachers ,despite tight patrolling all over the park, informed official sources.

The main factor that is worrying ornithologists and wildlife experts is that whereas earlier 22 species of wild ducks and geese frequented Bhitarakanika, now the number has drastically reduced to a mere 14 species due to poaching of birds . The notable species that no longer frequent the Bhitarakanika are pink-footed geese, white-headed stiff tail, tufted duck to name a few.

Not only that birds are mercilessly killed by the poachers in the Bhitarkanika national park during this time of the year but also deer are mercilessly killed during this time by the taxidermists .

If sources are to be believed ,about eight spotted deer were mercilessly killed in the mangrove forest of Mahanadi Delta under Bhitarkanika National park area in last five months by the local poachers ,who trap and kill the antelopes in order to earn a fast buck by slyly selling its venison ,antlers and hide in the nearby market , alleged locals.

Locals alleged that rampant poaching of deer has been going on in the forest of Kansardiha, Kharinashi and Sasana forest areas under Bhitarknaika National Park . About 3-4 deer were trapped and killed mercilessly by the poachers and taxidermists in the last month in the ongoing winter season .

As per the data collected from the locals that the poachers were residing in the coastal villages of Kharanashi , Kajalpatia, Badatota and Chapaligada .Most of them were the Bangla immigrants ,who have settled in the Mahakalpada areas illegally.each poaching groups comprises more than 6 persons.

Poachers trap spotted deer by spreading nylon nets and loops on the paddy fields mostly in the unprotected areas in the park . Even the poachers have also trapped deer outside the boundary of the Bhitarkanika when the antelopes manage to escape from the forest . As a result, these hoofed animals fall prey in the traps of the poachers and taxidermists , informed locals .

According to locals, the poachers trap the deer either in the early morning or at night fall. Later, they kill the deer and sell it in the nearby villages or send the venison to Paradeep through boats in the water route. Later, they slyly sell the venison in the villages during the night hour and also transport the venison ,hide and antlers to Paradeep and its adjoining areas through water route.

Indian Ex-Police chief sentenced 6 months imprisonment for molesting teenaged girl

A CBI court on Monday sentenced former Haryana Director General of Police S P S Rathore to six months rigorous imprisonment and a fine of 1000 rupees for molesting a teenaged girl who later committed suicide nineteen years ago. CBI’ special magistrate J S Sidhu said Rathore will have to undergo another one month RI in case of default. Under Indian Panel Code, a person held guilty of molestation charge can face a prison term of upto two years. 14-year-old Ruchika Girhotra, a promising tennis player, was molested by Rathore, the then Inspector General of Police in Haryana, on August 12, 1990. She committed suicide three years later by drinking poison.
